Confused by Your Health Care Bills? Know Your Insurance Plan, Know Your Benefits
February 13, 2006
You’ve heard it on the news; employers unable to absorb higher health insurance rates choose to no longer provide health care for their employees. The state budget can’t keep up with the demand for assistance. It is a national problem. In Washington State, nearly 11% of adults and children do not have any form of health insurance.
Thank goodness you have good health insurance! “I won’t have to worry about medical bills when my family or I get sick or hurt,” you think.
But then you have to take your son to the emergency room when he cuts his finger with a kitchen knife. A couple of weeks later you receive a bill from the hospital. Not only do you not understand why your insurance company didn’t just pay it, but also there are charges for people you are sure you never saw!!
Confused by charges on your health care bills? Can’t figure out why you get bills from specialists you never see? And why isn’t your insurance company paying the bill?
Cascade Valley Hospital will be holding monthly presentations, beginning Thursday, March 16, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., to shed some light on confusing health care bills. A Payment Specialist, Reimbursement Specialist, and Patient Advocate will all be on hand to help you understand some of the big mysteries.
