Arlington Nurse Attends Weapons of Mass Destruction Training
December 27, 2005
Emergency Responder Vicki A. Schiessl, RN, from Cascade Valley Hospital recently completed a Weapons of Mass Destruction training course at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), located in Anniston, Alabama.
Threats faced by the nation’s first responders are diverse, deadly and complex. There is growing concern chemical, biological, nuclear or other hazardous materials will become terrorists’ weapons of choice.
The mission of the CDP is to operate a Federal training facility specializing in advanced hands-on training for America’s 11 million emergency responders to prevent, deter, respond to, and recover from terrorist acts, especially those involving weapons of mass destruction or hazardous materials.
The CDP Offers the only program in the nation featuring civilian training exercises in a true toxic environment, with actual chemical agents. The hands-on training enables responders to effectively respond to real-world incidents. These responders serve as the nations first line of defense and deserve the highest quality training available.
The CDP’s interdisciplinary resident and non-resident courses promote greater understanding among 10 diverse responder disciplines:
» Emergency management Agency
» Emergency medical Services
» Fire Service
» Governmental Administrative
» Hazardous Materials Personnel
» Health Care
» Law Enforcement
» Public Health
» Public Safety Communications
» Public Works
